Week 9

ANALOGICAL THINKING

Analogical Thinking comes in three different categories. First is similes, Second is metaphors, Third is analogy.

Similes. Similes is a way of describing someone is like something. Like my father. he can be fierce like a tiger but he can also be shy as a mouse. Sometimes we used this phrases to described somebody's personality and expression. once i had a friend called David. During our physical exercise education class. PE for short,  we have to run a 2.4km route. He would run ever so fast and completed his 2.4 just under 10 minutes. We would then called him, he is fast as a cheetah but now we just call him slow as a tortoise.

Metaphors is then a way of describing something is something. like his hand is rough. I had a friend, his name is John his feet is massive sometimes it's hard for him to find a shoes that he likes with his size. So sad.

Next is Analogy. Analogy comes in different category on it's own. First is personal analogy, it's like, the hand phone is getting smarter. direct & symbolic analogy is like taking something from nature and used it to make another thing. This is my favorite, Fantasy analogy. Example Skype. during the 20th century people only dream that with could talk to each other through screen but now we have it in reality.

Week 8

MAKING FACES

Making faces is something that is not a living thing but it has a face. Like when you see buildings, appliances or anything that would have a face with the expression like happy, sad, shock or joy. It's sometimes easy to see and there will be times it's difficult to see those faces. But it's kind of fun, though looking at them because it's like,  they are alive, having different kinds of personality and expression in them. Some of the faces are interesting and some are really hilarious. Sometimes I feel that they are trying to tell me about something.

You can even invent a story with the faces you see, like the face that I took was on the ceiling and the story goes like this. Her name is Conria. She is a one blinded eye kind of face. Conria job is to keep us cool by blowing cool air around the hall way. She has so many brothers and sisters. Conria always see people pass through the hallways but she always gets mad because she cannot see their faces. What she can see though is the top of their heads.

So always look hard to find those faces and create a story to entertain yourself  and the audience and hey maybe you can create book  a out of it.

Week 7

The Journey & Synesthesia

Synesthesia is a gift of translating music or image into art. Can be a sculpture, painting, poetry or anything you can think of. Everyone of us has synesthesia to some extent. It is one way to boost your creativity and if you have synesthesia you can even create painting that is unique and interesting. Some would think it is a curse but to me it's a gift because you can see the world differently and if you have the skills, you can bring it into reality.

During my creative thinking class. My lecturer gave us an exercise to see if we can translate it into art. First he gave us to watch a music video. The music, to me it's kind of erotic so i drew a red district type of town. Hey it's just what i see. Second he gave us another video but this time it's a  video of Singapore at marina bay. So i drew an oasis because the video shows me that it is full of wealth and prosperity. Sometime i would even close my eyes and just hear the sound and just scribble nonsense onto my sketch book. Some of the sketches turn out to be interesting and some are completed outrages.Well that's all I have about synesthesia..bye!!!!
Week 6

FORCE CONNECTION

Force connection !!!. Force connection is something that you can combine two or more related or unrelated things to form a new things or to send a new massage. Force connection can be used to make our live's interesting and more fun. Even make it more better. It like mating two kind of species to make a new breed of creatures.

Then in creative thinking class our lecturer bring us to the Singapore art museum  to look at some paintings and sculpture. When i got there and went into the museum, the first thing I saw was the glass microphone which comes with a glass stand. It was interesting, I was amazed by how they had difficulty to make it. After that, i walked into this pathway and saw this curtain which has the same colour as the wall. As i was curious, I lift the curtain and saw something glowing in the middle of the dark room. I saw it was a world map. Lit up by green neon light. I thought to myself what does it mean. To me is kind of the map that you would fine inside A military camps hahaha.

well that's all from me.

Week 5

LATERAL THINKING
Lateral Thinking is a way of using imagination and inspiration to solve a problem by looking at them from unexpected perspective. It is also call, thinking outside of the box. Lateral Thinking also involved in discarding the obvious and leaving behind old ways.
Lateral Thinking comes with five attributes. 1st is Focus, providing better ideas to solve a problem. 2nd is Challenge, means questioning and challenging existing ideas with better alternatives. 3rd is Projection,  avoid thinking in a safe way of solving a problem. 4th is Random Input, To think randomly. 5th is Escape, means to escape from tradition. Lateral Thinking  in other words means asking yourself "What If's" question.

Well in creative thinking class. Our lecturer asked us to take picture of 7 kind of things that involved lateral thinking. If  you see, Lateral thinking is apply in many things and in many ways. Like for example television. Television was once only something that we can see in black & white. we can only see shows on it but now it has become more advance and more smarted in it's interactiveness.
Lateral thinking can also be applied in furniture as well. Like the sofa bed for instance. The sofa bed can be used for lounging and also can turn into a place to sleep. Plus it will safe space in your  room. This are some innovation  that uses the "what if" questions. So don't always think in an average way cause sometimes it's good to think in a ridiculous way.

Well That' all from me bye bye.

Shariff.

Week 4

MINDMAPPING!!!. Mind mapping is process of extending and taking notes while you brainstorm. Mind mapping also is a way of letting your creativeness go wild, however ridiculous the idea is.  There are no rules in mind mapping. It can be done in anyway that you like and There are no restrictions to it.
Mind mapping usually starts at the centre first. Then it spread out in braches all over the place like the braches of a tree. Mind mapping can be done in pictures too. Making it more interesting and fun. Other than pictures, you can use colours. Making it more lively. Mind mapping, also is a way to organise your ideas cause when u think of ideas  it tend to be jumble up.
So to tell u more about mind mapping. Last week In my creative thinking class we made a mind map about love.  Well for me love can be separated in different types of categories. Love can be for pets, money, celebrities, animations, toys etc. Well you get the idea. So that's all I know about mind mapping so use it well people.
May your ideas bloom.
Week 3

BRAINSTORMING

Brainstorming !!!, brainstorming is a process of thinking and trying to come up with new ideas. Also to find other ways of solving a problem. Brainstorming is sometimes coming up with ideas which is not realistic or relevant to the situation but it's is a way of getting your creative juices flowing. Sometimes you can come out with some weird and strange ideas which some works and some doesn't.  It's amazing what you can come out with when you brainstorm, but it can give you some serious  headaches. It also can make someone angry and frustrated but hey! it's just part of the process.

Sometimes it's better to brainstorm with other people or in a group, cause different people think differently all the time. They have different perspective to live and they also do things differently. You may have some disagreement and maybe some arguments but it doesn't mean you should stop. A great idea may come from 1 thinker but a grand idea comes from a bunch of thinkers. which means onto to a bigger and greater things and may bring in something that is way out of proportion or will even make your mind blown away.

To me brainstorming is crucial ingredient to make an idea into something real and without it we cannot reach our goal.

Well that's all for me
signing of.
from Shariff.
